Ale On Tap - Fine Beers from Shropshire
Containers
Containers..
We use 10 and 20 litre "polypins".
They have a polythene interior with a tap to dispense the beer and a cardboard outer. These have a capacity of 18 and 36 pints and are rather like wine boxes only bigger.
As you use the beer the air is not allowed in and this helps to keep the beer in good condition.
You can recycle the containers and also reuse them if you clean them with a sterillising agent such as sodium metabisulphide tablets.
Bottled Beers

The beer we supply in bottles comes in glass 500ml (just under a pint) dark glass recyclable  bottles with crown caps. These are delivered in a cardboard case.

Please note that some breweries such as Hobsons bottle condition their bottled beers with a small amount of yeast. This is so that the beer has a long shelf life and reaches you in the best possible condition. If you are ordering bottled conditioned beer please note that the beer should be carefully decanted to leave the yeast in the bottle for a better drinking experience!

Free Delivery Monday to Friday..

Beers can be dispatched within 48 hours for next day delivery if required.
This timescale is for deliveries to addresses in the British mainland south of Scotland's central belt.
Deliveries to Scottish mainland addresses north of this take a little longer.

We recommend that you take delivery of polypin beer two days before you wish to drink the beer.

We can deliver on a Monday but we are reluctant to do so because your beer will be in transit over the weekend.

Shelf Life

So that it reaches you in the very best condition, all beer is dispatched by carrier in what is called "bright" or "re-racked" condition. This is the same condition as you would expect to have your beer in the pub. The plus side is that it can be drunk straight away and does not need to settle, indeed if you knock it or move it, it will not matter.
The down side is that it will not have such a long shelf life as those beers which are sold with the sediment still in the container. If you particularly wish to have a sediment beer which will be more difficult to keep but will last longer and certainly cloud if you knock it, please give me a ring.

I f the beer is kept at around 55 degrees F or 12 degrees C it will remain in top condition for at least five days from receipt of free delivery.
